Etymology: This species is given the epithet mixteca, to honour the indigenous Mixtec culture, ‘the people of the rain’, that historically inhabited the region that is now recognized as the states of Puebla and Oaxaca. This species has only been collected from these states and is seemingly active only during the rainy season.
